WE TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT OF THE HISTORY OF THE VIRGIN OF HAKUNA

The sculpture of the Virgin of Hakuna is a beautiful commission made to the artist Javier Viver from the Christian community called Grupo Hakuna.

Javier Viver is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist who likes to define himself fundamentally as an imaginer. A craft with a deep-rooted tradition in Spain that the artist adapts to the contemporary iconoclastic discourse.

On the other hand, there is the Christian Community called Hakuna. It is made up of people of all ages whose spirit of life is based on offering and sharing without forgetting enjoyment.

A community that uses music as a fundamental means of expression, their concerts are well known, they live what they sing and sing what they live. In this way it is with music that they want to remind the world of the beauty of life, and show the beauty of Christ.

THE ATTITUDE AND REPRESENTATION OF THE HAKUNA VIRGIN.

The kneeling pose has to do with the attitude of the group as a sign of humility and devotion before God and others. This attitude of offering is what they transfer to the sculptor Javier Viver to make the image of the Virgin of Hakuna.
This is how Javier Viver creates a virgin in a praying attitude, pregnant and sitting on her own feet, who gathers the Eucharist inside her womb, sheltering the Word of God.
The aspect of the virgin of Hakuna is very far from being a classic image, it was very important that the image reflects the innovative, modern and close spirit of this group. In short, to look for an image that clearly reminds us of any young woman today.

For the realization of the Virgin of Hakuna, the artist Javier Viver took several young women belonging to the community as models in the process of the elaboration of the image of the virgin.

THE HOLY HOUR

On December 21, in the Basilica of La Merce in Barcelona, the celebration of the Holy Hour took place. Hundreds of young people came together to pray together before Christ and celebrate Christmas.
The ceremony was presided over by Father Jose Pedro Manglano and, as it could not be otherwise, with the presence of the sculpture of the Virgin of Hakuna.

The image of the Virgin of Hakuna occupied a very special place on the altar. It was placed on a wooden base behind three columns in the shape of a letter, the initials of HKN, made of the same material and ornamented with green plants and with very minimal lighting.

In the days of confinement, I searched the networks, to listen to mass daily, and I found an altar with a very special Madonna and some flowers on the altar that filled me completely!!!!
